Pee Wee’s Big Adventure (not technically horror but it scared me real bad).
I think horror has a kind of strangeness to it that queer people find welcoming somehow, like by nature of being horror is considered to be lowbrow or “less than” other genres, but that opens up potential that other genres don’t have, which I think resonates with a lot of queer people in a lot of ways.
I LOVE fear of your neighbor and possession as representations of societal change.
Either Sleepaway Camp or Pearl.
I don’t know how underrated it is but I do think everyone should watch Re-Animator!
I have absolutely found community through horror fandom! I’ve gone to StokerCon two years in a row now and am always so happy with the community I find there, as well as through social media!
